The Osh regional office was opened in 1999 in order to further the possibilities of the work being carried out in the south of Kyrgyzstan in the border areas with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Activities of the Osh Regional Office:
Implemented projects: Improving Interethnic Tolerance, sponsored by the Local Osh Office of the OSCE. The aim of the project is to facilitate the improvement of tolerance in the area and decrease any potential of ethnic conflict in the south of Kyrgyzstan. Peaceful Change, sponsored by UNHCR. The aim of the project is to create a premise on which to restore trust and peace. Restoring Peace through the Involvement of Economic Actors, sponsored by the local Osh office of the OSCE. The aim of the project is to strengthen the influence of economic actors in the stabilisation of the situation in the south of Kyrgyzstan Strengthening the Potential of Civil Society and Groups in Target Communities to Develop Effective Conflict Strategies and Practical Responses to the Situation in the Osh and Jalal-Abad Regions, sponsored by DFID in partnership with Safer World, UK. The aim of the project is to strengthen the local potential to work with aspects of security in the Osh and Jalal-Abad region sand to increase the potential of civil society to prevent violent conflicts through conflict response measures.
