Activities of the Bishkek Head Office of FTI

Bishkek office was the first of five offices to open of FTI in 1999.                                                                                                                                   

 

Activities of the Bishkek Head office:

  • Trainings on the skills of conflict transformation in partnership with the networks in the Ferghana Valley.
  • Provinding support to regional initiatives by strengthening regional cooperation between partners of the network in the Ferghana Valley.
  • Conducting regional forums/round tables to grant possibilities to NGO’s in the Ferghana Valley.  
  • Realising and consolidation projects with the aim of strengthening the efforts of NGOs in the Ferghana Valley to resolve potential conflicts in the Ferghana Valley.
  • Strengthening the potential of aksakals (elders) in preventing violent conflicts in communities.
  • Coordinating internal FTI project evaluations.
  • Finding donors for future projects under the framework of programme components.  
  • Coordinating all projects of FTI (planning, report writing and managing the full cycle of the projects).
  • Keeping in contact with partners and donors of FTI

Implemented Projects:

Steadying Democracy through a Strong Civil Society, sponsored by Hivos, The Netherlands. The aim of the project is to strengthen the impact of FTI on the opportunities to effectively realise long-term missions.

The Network of NGOs in the Ferghana Valley “Peace Valley,” sponsored by the Danish Council for Refugees. The aim of the project is to create favourable conditions for peace and democratic development in the Ferghana Valley. 

Global Partnership in the Prevention of Armed Conflicts (GPPAC), Sponsored by the Centre of Conflict Prevention, The Netherlands. The aim of the project is to develop cooperation in the Ferghana Valley and Central Asia.

Together towards Peace, sponsored by UNDP. The aim of the project is to assist the stabilisation in the South and facilitate the restoring of trust between Kyrgyz and Uzbek communities.

Youth Theatre for Peace, sponsored by USAID. The aim of the project is to advance sustained prevention of conflict on the community level through drama for conflict transformation.

Involving Students in Building Peace, sponsored by DFID in partnership with International Alert, UK. The aim of the project is to facilitate the lowering of conflicts and tension amongst students, mainly from universities in the south of Kyrgyzstan.
